Fishermen trained in Environmental Services
Non-profit organizations SuMar, COBI, Redes, and Grupo Manglar kicked off the year with a series of workshops on the benefits and ecological services that mangrove wetlands provide to coastal communities.
With the participation of more than 50 fishermen from the region known as the National Wetlands (an area in southern Sinaloa, and northern Nayarit), the instructors and their assistants analyzed, from an historical perspective, the natural resources that have been lost or diminished with the passage of time, principally due to human activity.
The workshops are the first step in a process that will culminate in the planning of an educational campaign directed by fishermen, youth, women and government officials at the federal, state and municipal levels.
